9. Earn as you learn

Earn an excellent salary and benefits starting from day one of training.

In addition to offering an exciting and rewarding career, the EPS provides an excellent benefits package to employees and their families. Paid vacation, medical and dental plans, life insurance plans, professional development courses, tuition reimbursement (within established guidelines), career counselling and employee assistance programs are just a sample of what we offer to improve quality of life and well-being for our members.

You will also have the opportunity to work “Extra Duty Detail” for extra pay at various events around the city. Special duty shifts are regularly available and include various events like Edmonton Oilers or Edmonton Eskimos games, Capital EX and concerts. The potential to supplement your already competitive salary is always available if you choose.

As a member of the EPS, you will contribute to the Special Forces Pension Plan. In addition to your contributions, the City of Edmonton also contributes to the pension plan, allowing members to retire with a full pension after 25 years of service. Members, however, can continue to work until the age of 65.

For more information on the pension plan, as well as the pension calculator, visit the Special Forces Pension Plan.
