In addition to offering an exciting and rewarding career, the EPS provides an excellent benefits package to employees and their families. Paid vacation, medical and dental plans, life insurance plans, professional development courses, tuition reimbursement within established guidelines; top-notch career counselling and employee assistance programs are just a sample of what we offer to improve quality of life and well-being for our members.
You will also have the opportunity to work special duty requests for extra pay at various events around the city. Special duty is additional policing which a member chooses to do if they want to. The requests for special duty shifts are regularly available and include various events around the city like Edmonton Oilers or Edmonton Eskimos games, Capital EX and various concerts. The potential to supplement your already competitive salary is always available if you choose.
As a member of the EPS you will contribute to the Special Forces Pension Plan. In addition to these personal contributions, the City of Edmonton will also contribute to your pension plan, allowing our members to retire with a full pension after 25 years of service. Members, however, can continue to work until the age of 65.
