International Applicants

Thank you for your interest in the Edmonton Police Service. Over the past few years, the EPS international recruiting initiative has been a great success and resulted in attracting many fine candidates from various countries.

Due to several years of record hiring, and recent changes to Canada’s economic climate, the EPS international recruiting initiative has slowed significantly. We will, however, accept a résumé from those wishing to receive future consideration; your résumé will be placed on hold until such time as the demand for new recruits increases. We strongly encourage those who choose to submit a résumé to also provide supporting documentation in respect of any skill or circumstance which may increase your competitiveness in a formal selection process. The formal application and selection process is described in the Stages above.

For international applicants who qualify for examination, all attempts will be made to schedule testing in Edmonton over a one-week period in order to avoid candidates having to make repeat visits for each of the testing stages. All applicants should be aware that they are responsible to pass each stage prior to moving forward. In the event that the applicant fails to pass one particular stage, the remainder of their appointments will be cancelled.

International applicants must apply to the International Qualifications Assessment Service for verification of educational qualifications.  IQAS will issue appropriately qualified applicants with an assessment certificate that will inform the EPS that they meet the minimum educational requirement of equivalent to at least Grade 12 completed in Canada.  The IQAS certificate must be included with the EPS application package and is the only certificate that is required; please do not enclose copies of educational certificates obtained in other countries.

Please note: The Edmonton Police Service has no involvement with the acquisition of this certificate.  All enquiries about obtaining the IQAS certificate should be directed to Alberta Employment and Immigration

Successful applicants and his or her dependents can be nominated by the EPS for permanent resident status through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (formerly called the Provincial Nominee Programme). Any offer of employment from the EPS will be conditional upon the applicant obtaining permanent resident status.
