Updated 2011 Feb 4: Due to an overwhelming number of enquiries into the International Applicant Program, the EPS Recruiting and Selection Unit is revising this page to reflect the current situation more appropriately. We thank you for your interest in the Edmonton Police Service and recognize that the EPS international recruiting initiative has been a great success and resulted in attracting many fine candidates from various countries.
Should the EPS ever need to re-visit this initiative, we will update the International Applicant web page accordingly. However, no further consideration will be entertained at this time to receive any applications or resumes from those who have not already obtained Permanent Resident status.
Should any potential International applicants, whether or not they are currently employed as a police officer, be successful in obtaining Permanent Resident status, they will then be eligible to submit an application to the EPS following arrival in Canada, after which they will enter into the regular recruit selection process.
International applicants must apply to the International Qualifications Assessment Service for verification of educational qualifications. IQAS will issue appropriately qualified applicants with an assessment certificate that will inform the EPS that they meet the minimum educational requirement of equivalent to at least Grade 12 completed in Canada. The IQAS certificate must be included with the EPS application package and is the only certificate that is required; please do not enclose copies of educational certificates obtained in other countries.
Please note: The Edmonton Police Service has no involvement with the acquisition of this certificate. All enquiries about obtaining the IQAS certificate should be directed to Alberta Employment and Immigration.
