Written Testing

Experienced Canadian Police Officers are not required to write the ACT and APCAT exams, but rather have to complete a written exam that encompasses both criminal law and officer safety. Experienced members are required to obtain a minimum 70% pass on this exam, and if not will be subject to a three month deferral. If the experienced member fails the exam for the second time, they will not be eligible for the Experienced Officer Program and will have to apply through the regular chain. All other steps of the selection process will remain the same for experienced members as for new applicants.
