Homicide
Homicide investigation presents great challenges and responsibility on a daily basis. Like all EPS police officers, those in the Homicide Section thrive on details, structure, stressful situations and the pursuit of justice.
They are responsible for investigating all homicides, manslaughters, murder conspiracies, sudden deaths and found human remains where suspicious circumstances exist. This section also investigates shootings involving police officers, deaths that occur while in-custody and cases involving missing persons where foul play is suspected. Homicide often works closely with other police agencies on investigations.
EPS Detectives apply and compete for positions in the Homicide Unit. Members are required to be exceptional investigators and interviewers with a substantial amount of police experience. A background in the EPS Crime Scene Unit can be an asset in becoming a member of the Homicide Section.
